First Eucharist

First Eucharist is a joyful milestone in the life of a Catholic, when a person receives the Body and Blood of Jesus Christ in Holy Communion for the first time. This sacrament deepens one’s relationship with Christ and nourishes the soul with His grace and presence. Through preparation and participation in the Mass, individuals are invited to grow in faith, love, and unity with the Church community.

Regular attendance and active participation in a faith formation program or during religion class at school is required for the reception of First Eucharist.  All third grade children and above preparing to receive First Eucharist must also have been prepared for the Sacrament of Reconciliation.  Special preparation handouts are given to the family to be completed at home.  Children and parents preparing for their child’s First Eucharist receive catechesis on the Sacrament through a parent meeting on a Wednesday night, during religion class in school, and attend a Sunday afternoon parent/child retreat at Nativity Church. New this year 3^rd graders will receive First Eucharist during Sunday Mass with our parish priests. They will prepare to receive the Sacrament of Confirmation in 4^th grade where they will celebrate the sacrament with the Bishop.

Sunday, April 11 -First Eucharist Retreat 11:00 a.m. –3:30 p.m. 
Sunday, May 2 at the 9:15 a.m. Mass -Sacrament of First Eucharist
