Greetings to you all, I am so very proud to be a part of the Nativity parish community. I am no stranger to the Fargo area, since I grew up here. I was also assigned to a couple of different locations during my many years as a priest of the Diocese of Fargo.
Being a part of this new community, I am engaging in discussions and activities to gauge what our spiritual and parish facility needs would be. People have a great way of sharing when you have a meal together, or even just coffee and a donut.
I have taken this information and then visited with our awesome staff about a plan to implement and grow the faith, which has begun and continues to be a bedrock foundation. The spiritual aspect and then the physical needs are brought to the council and discussed. I like to look at pros and cons to bring our parish into a great new light. This I would say is one of my main priorities.
Everyone has a responsibility to share the financial needs of a parish, and my goal and promise is to live within a balanced budget. Making sure we plan, and care for the resources entrusted to us is a responsibility I do not take lightly. Giving this kind of witness has opened many doors and allowed opportunities to collaborate with various groups and parish family members who have certain skills, bringing about a sense of ownership and pride. I enjoy seeing a beautiful building with a spirit filling every corner.
I was ordained in 1994 and have served in many capacities in the Diocese and at parishes and schools. As stated above, I grew up in the area, and went to Fargo South, NDSU and Cardinal Muench Seminary. Then I was sent to the Pontifical College Josephinum for my Masters in Columbus, Ohio. I have enjoyed my priestly ministry, have engaged with many couples, students, and families to become a better priest. I always infer that the goal of the parish family is to help one another grow, but also to help form the priest as a family.
I have many hobbies that include indoor and outdoor activities. I love sports and have become involved with several college programs as a chaplain. Indulging in some of these activities has kept me not only humbled but also physically in good shape. I enjoy cooking and eating and love to travel for short trips. All these activities and hobbies not only keep me entertained, but they give me a great deal of happiness.
All in all, I love people and I enjoy working hard and living my priesthood to the fullest. I am generally a happy person ready to lend a hand. This energy comes from my relationship with my Savior Jesus Christ.
As always, never be a stranger—say hi and grow the faith by loving one another.
